For King Pot Head

Brady's shirt is going to have good old Frank painted on it. He is going to be a white Frank and it looks like it's going to take several coats of paint to get him there. When he is the perfect shade of white, like my legs, I am going to use embroidery floss to stitch around the collar and sleeves. Soon it will look grrrrreat...I hope! To keep the kiddos busy and from destroying the house, we all made sock puppets. I made mine quick so I could get started on my projects and Brady wanted his to be a ghost so it didn't take him long either, but Madelyn didn't quite understand the task at "hand". He!He! She colored and colored and colored and just when I thought she was done she needed to color some more, with a different color of course. They played with them for hours! At some point Brady found the "cooking pot" hat that he made at school last month while studying Johnny Appleseed. He said, "Look at me mom, I'm King Pot Head!". And he just kept saying it (probably because I was laughing at him and ran to get the camera), "I'm King Pot Head! I'm King Pot Head! I'm King Pot Head!". LOL!!!! ; )

This and That

Happy Sunday to ya!

Starting Tuesday I will be volunteering at Brady's school once a week for an hour or two. I am going to be helping in Brady's class with "centers". From what I understand, the class will break up into 3 groups to do different activities in each one as they rotate. I will be leading one of the groups. I had to have a background check and go get fingerprinted and they did another background check on me there too. Better safe than sorry, but wow that is a lot just for me to volunteer once a week.

Preston is filling in for a store manager for up to 3 months. He has to drive almost 45 min. there and 45 min. back 5 days a week. Yuck! Grrrrr! He has an interview this Tuesday for a store in Kansas! I know he has had so many and I rarely get excited about them anymore, but I have to keep reminding myself that it will happen. Who knows, this could be it! I know God is in control. He knows what we need, and it is more than just a store for him to manage. I like to think He is preparing the "perfect" little place for us right now and soon he will bless us with all that we have been praying for and more, so much more!

Next weekend the kids and I are going to Arkansas for Kiah and Ryann's birthday party! I think I may be more excited than the kids. Can't wait to see my sister and family, but sad my mom won't be able to come this year. Then the next weekend we are making a very quick trip to OKC for my cousin's baby boy's dedication. I am not looking forward to all the traveling (especially without Preston), but I love to see family every chance I get. And I just can't miss seeing Toby being dedicated to God! AND THEN two weeks after that we are headed to Turpin and Enid to see more family! Three weeks after that is Thanksgiving...and we start all over again. ; )

Cats and Bats, Oh My!

I LOVE to read craft blogs!!! They inspire me to create! Blog after blog people are using freezer paper as a stencil...how cool is that! I had to try it out! I have been wanting to do this for awhile now and am just a little over excited. LOL! I am weird like that. Anyhoo, I made this shirt to go with Madelyn's leg warmers, but it needed "something". I searched the Internet for a template to print off. I laid it under the freezer paper and used an exacto knife to cut the image out. Then I placed it where I wanted it on my shirt shiny side down and ironed it on. Who thought, "Hey, I think I will iron this freezer paper to some fabric and see what happens."? Well, they are a genius! Love this! I know, I know, I'm weird. It's ok to be weird as long as you know you are. ; ) Ok, after it's all ironed down I painted it carefully, pulled off the paper, and started taking pictures! Yes, weird is me.

Hello. My name is Sarah and I am a freezer paper stenciling addict.

Matching Hat

I made Brady a hat with the foot part of the Halloween socks that I used to make Madelyn's leg warmers! It's pretty cooool, just wish I could have sewn it so that the bats aren't upside down. Now he needs a cute, hehemm, I mean a totally awesome Halloween shirt to wear with it. ; ) He was not at all excited to be my model today.
In fact, he may have been a little bothered... or borderline mad. (Cartoons were on.)But wait!An almost smile!
Aahaaa! Pretty good, but he can do better. There it is! I love that smile!!!

Questions and Pictures

1. Why does pop (Dr. Pepper!) have to taste so good? My rear end wants to know.

2. Why can't I say "no" ONE TIME and that be the end of it?

3. At what age can kiddos fold and put away laundry properly?

And dishes? ; )

4. Is drawing names for Christmas and giving one great gift better than dividing the Christmas budget up and getting everyone a little something?

5. What would the world be like if everyone was thoughtful of others everyday all the time and no longer had a "I just don't want to, don't feel like it, gotta do what's best for me" attitude? Hmmm...I want that.

6. Who created playdoh and what were they thinking?

7. Does anyone else crave chips dipped in ranch dressing and then into salsa? No? Oh you should try it now!

8. Will I ever be so blessed to live next door to my sister?

9. Why does Brady have such a hard time with the number 12?

10. Is it weird that my silverware drawer has to be organized in a certain order and everything (minus the plastic toddler spoons) put in it very neatly?

11. How does a mother who has lost a child get up each day and keep going on with life? My heart hurts for them and my prayer is that they find the peace that can only come from God.

I'm A Bad Bribing Momma!

I did it. It's sad. It's frustrating. I bribed my kids to clean up their own mess. I have been busy sewing up a Halloween outfit for Maddie and while I wasn't looking they were...let's just say they were "having fun". So tomorrow I will be taking them to Wal-Mart so they can each pick out their own box of popsicles. Why, oh why did I let them get me! Eat five more bites and then you can go play...You don't have to eat if you aren't hungry, but you aren't getting anything else until the next meal! If you are really good in the store I will get you a book...What! You can be good in the store or you can get a spanking! Why do we feel the need to bribe them to do the things that they should just do? I was so not bribed growing up! I did what my parents told me to do because they simply told me to and I knew what the consequence would be if I didn't. And yes, I tested them on occasion. Bribing or making it a contest to get them to do stuff irritates me. A LOT! Can you tell? LOL! I think it really comes down to teaching them to have respect. Respect for me and Preston, respect for adults, respect for their belongings, respect for other peoples belongings, etc. They also need to learn to be grateful, but I won't get started on that. : ) I try my best not to bribe, but often fail. I vow to quit taking the easy road and love them by teaching them to respect. It's the parents responsibility to teach them right from wrong. We are responsible for how they act and treat things/people...manners are so important! Ok, I'm done with my little pep talk. I can do this whole parenting thing!

This isn't the actual mess from today, but you get the idea.

Halloween socks into leg warmers! Here they are as thigh highs, lol!

I hope to have the whole outfit to show you soon!

While in negotiations Brady asks, "Can we eat them whenever we want?" I gave him my "really?" look. He must think I'm a ding bat! Oh yeah, I am.
