Thrifting Thursdays: Fabric and Sheets

The fabric is a Goodwill find and the sheets I bought on eBay! I am using the sheets on Maddie's bed for now. Her bed...what a mess...it's painted, put together, and we now have more problems. The box spring and mattress sit too high and there is a big gap between the mattress and rail on each side. The mattress is too narrow for some reason. We bought the headboard and foot board for $20 thinking we had one heck of a deal. After sanding, painting, and buying two sets of rails, we are out $130 now and the bed just isn't working right! Throw it out and buy new? Figure out a way to alter it? Burn it?!
We'll see...

Beginnings, Bushes, and Bunnies

Today Maddie began her many years of school!  She has been waiting for this day since Brady started preschool 2 yrs ago, so I was really excited for her (and me)!

We were shocked when we stepped outside this morning to see and smell smoke!  The fires aren't super close, but I felt so anxious.  I pray for those being affected by the fires and for those fighting to put them out.
By noon the smell wasn't so bad.  Preston got to work taking out the bushes by our entry way.  It's looking better already!  That is some sad sad crispy grass...blah.  I hope next spring we will get to completely redo the front yard and start from scratch.

Does anyone else have cow bones hiding in their bushes?  LOL!  They are suveniers from adventure hikes in the pasture behind our house.  I will be throwing them away now, which is what I should have done in the first place.
We found baby bunnies, at least that's what we think they are.  ;-)  I hope the momma comes back for them!

Backpack Project

I promised Madelyn when we bought her boring (cheap) backpack that I would put her name on it or do something to make it super cute.  I love how easy to please she is and realize that won't be the case for long!

Fabric collecting (some would call it hoarding) is a hobby of mine.  Can fabric collecting even be a hobby?  Sure it can!  I don't think I've used any of it, but have good intentions of doing so when the right project comes along...like a backpack needing to be personalized!  I dug through my fabric drawers, found these, and just smiled proudly thinking to myself, "See!  I knew they would be perfect for something one day!"!!!!  I can't wait for Preston to get home so I can tell him "I told you so!" show him what I've been up to!  (Not that he will really care, but I have to say he is pretty good at pretending to most of the time.)

I better go get busy so I actually have something to show him.  I'll be back to show you too!  I know I know, you can't hardly wait...ha!  ;-)

Thrifting Thursdays: Frame

I gave this $10 Goodwill frame some "watermelon" spray paint love.
It is now perfect for a little girl's room!
(I couldn't decide on the color.)
We are making progress!
